Manchester City will travel to Germany to face Schalke 04 in the Round of 16 of Champions League. The Royal Blues (Die Königsblauen) are set to host the English Champions in the first leg at Veltins-Arena, Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The German giants need to be at their best when they take on the free-flowing Manchester side who have been scoring goals for fun lately. Pep Guardiola will also be excited to head back to Germany where he dominated the league with Bayern Munich.
The home side is going through a terrible phase as they are languishing at the 14th spot in the Bundesliga table. Schalke will be under a lot of pressure when they host the reigning Premier League champions in the knock-out stage. They would be hoping for a positive performance tonight which might turn around fate in the remainder of the season. FC Schalke needs to find a motivating factor which could save them from being relegated at the end of the season. Domenico Tedesco, who did a tremendous job last year to take them to the Champions League, has failed to deliver this time around.
On the other side, Manchester City has established themselves as one of the most dominant forces in the world of football. Since Pep Guardiola took charge, the English Champions have made giant strides and revolutionized the way football is played. Manchester City would be eyeing to bring the much-awaited trophy to Etihad Stadium. The Cityzens have lifted the Premier League title thrice, but Pep & Co must find a way to win the Champions League if they really want to be considered the best. After a record-breaking season last year in the Premier League, Guardiola will be eyeing the European glory.
