The Indian Team has created history by winning the final ODI at the MCG, Melbourne. Virat Kohli and his team have won their second series on the long tour. Team India won the final match in style and clinched the ODI series by 2-1. India has won their first ever bilateral ODI series in Australia.
Kohli & Co have ended this tour on a high before heading to New Zealand. They couldn’t have asked for a better start to a year, with the ICC World Cup in sight. Indian team has dominated in all the three formats. Australia was fortunate enough to draw the T-2 series otherwise, it would have been a clean sweep.

India won the toss and elected to field first in this crucial contest. They knew they could chase any target easily. Bhubaneshwar Kumar gave the early breakthrough as usual and sent Carrey back. Yuzi Chahal was the pick of the bowlers to his 6-wicket haul. He bowled with real guile which deceived the Kangaroos to their downfall.

The Indian Openers started the chase steadily before Rohit Sharma knicked one to Shaun Marsh. Kohli and Dhawan laid a foundation and then the latter played a loose shot to give away his wicket to Marcus Stoinis. Kohli and Dhoni looked determined to take their side home, but Jhye Richarson had other plans and sent Kohli back to the pavilion. Kedhar Jadhav arrived in the middle to face the first ball of his tour. He stitched a match-winning partnership with MS Dhoni and scored the winning runs in the final over. His valiant effort of 61 not out is commendable as it came under huge pressure.

MS Dhoni once again took the Indian Team home, with his unbeaten 87-run knock. He won the ‘Man of the Series’ for his brilliant performance with the bat. Dhoni’s heroics won India two matches on the trot and helped his team to seal the series. There has been a lot of speculation over his place in the side. MSD has answered his critics in his style, by winning matches for India. He took both the games deep till the last over, before taking his side over the line.
This a new generation of Indian Cricket Team which wants to dominate the game all over the globe. As Virat Kohli mentioned, they want to be the best travelling side and win series all around the world. We are fortunate enough to witness the beginning of a new era, just after the dawn of another.
