Team India face a stern test as they head into the second ODI to face the Aussies. This a must-win match for Virat and his team. Adelaide will witness an epic encounter between two giants of world cricket. After ending the test series on a high, Indian team looked favourites to clinch the ODI series too. The opening one-dayers at Sydney was considered to be an easy challenge for the Boys in Blue, but Australian bowlers had other plans. After restricting Australia to 288/5, India was expected to chase this tricky total. But both the Perth (Scorchers) lads Jhye Richardson and Jason Behrendorff put out a fantastic display of fast bowling. The Indian top order just crumbled in front of such an accurate and lethal attack. Jhye Richardson was deservingly awarded the Man of the Match for his outstanding figures of 10-2-26-4.

India were reeling at 4 for 3 after just 4 overs, and Australia was ready to upset the World no. 2 ODI team. MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma then took charge and steadied the ship until Dhoni’s resilient knock of 51 came to an end. He became the victim of a wrong decision as the ball was pitching outside leg stump. Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik yet again failed to deliver when the team needed them the most. Ravindra Jadeja came in as the replacement of Hardik Pandya and couldn’t perform up to the mark.

Kohli has to make the decision of dropping Jadeja and go with two wrist spinners- Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. This will give them a more attacking bowling attack against a team that struggles to score against wrist spinners. Most of the runs in Sydney came in Australia’s middle order when Indian bowlers struggled to contain them.

Shubhman Gill and Vijay Shankar are the two replacements for Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul. Both the players might not feature in the remaining games as the management might not change the combination.

Australia, on the other hand, would be eyeing to seal the series in this upcoming match. Momentum is with the kangaroos right now, and they would try to make the most of this opportunity. This would be a fitting reply to avenge their test series loss against India. Kohli’s army, who were the favourites to win the series initially, will now have to fight to survive in this series.

Cricket is a funny game, indeed!
