NorthEast United are set to host Pune City in the League fixture of the Indian Super League. The home side has a perfect opportunity to finish in top-4 of the league standings with their final home game against the Maharashtrian team. While Pune City has finally recovered well after their poor run during the start of the campaign. Both the sides would be hoping to outplay their opponents in search of the playoffs berth.
NorthEast United FC has been the most improved team in the tournament, and they are well on course to qualify for their first ever ISL playoffs. The Highlanders have played some beautiful football throughout this tournament. Having played such attacking football, they are genuine frontrunners to take the title home. The management will be wary of resting some players with the semis approaching just after the last two league games. Currently, NorthEast United have taken up the third spot in the points table with 27 league points.
Pune City, on the contrary, had a terrible start to their tournament after qualifying for the semi-final last year. They have finally restored their campaign on track with some crucial wins under their belt. Pune City would be hoping to finish in the top-4 though it looks to be highly unlikely to happen. Their fate now depends upon the results of other teams if they want to qualify for the playoffs. Ian Hume and Marcelinho have been in sublime form for the visitors. They would be eyeing to spoil the highlander’s party when they visit Guwahati for the upcoming match.
