What’s the rumour?

Juventus will be eyeing to bring a quality striker to replace Mario Mandzukic. According to Fox Sports, the Italian champions are now targetting Romelu Lukaku to land him in Turin. Juventus have now started to be linked with various Manchester United players like Pogba, Martial, etc.

The background

Lukaku has failed to deliver for the Red Devils since joining them last year. After an impressive World Cup, the Belgian has hit serious goal drought and has not performed up to his level.

Juventus currently lack a poacher in front of goal, and therefore Allegri is interested in bringing Lukaku to Turin in the summer.

The heart of the matter

Fox Sports Asia has reported that Lukaku is likely to land in Italy after his forgettable season with Manchester United. He spent almost two seasons with the Red Devils and scored 22 league goals for the side. He failed to win any silverware during his time in Manchester but ended up as a runner-up in the Premier League and FA Cup last year. Belgium took the third spot in the FIFA World Cup earlier this year. Lukaku played a crucial role in Belgium’s dream run to finish third.

Rashford has been a consistent performer for Manchester United and Lukalu has really struggled in this season to find his feet. He has only managed to score six league goals in this season which is probably why Manchester United find themselves 6th in the premier league table.

Lukalu was sidelined by the new caretaker manager of Manchester United, Ole Solskjær, for the previous two games and United won those two games comprehensively. This new Manchester United looked confident with the ball and played with different flair which went missing during Mourinho’s era. The Red Devils played attractive and beautiful football in their win over Cardiff and Huddersfield Town.

The 25-year-old is still young and can find a new life under Massimiliano Allegri. Lukaku is a world-class finisher we all know that he is just lacking the confidence in front of goal. His move to Italy may be beneficial for both him and United.

Nobody can deny that Juventus desperately needs another striker in their ranks to strengthen their attack. Ronaldo and Mandzukic have done well this season, but they require another quality striker in their squad for the Champions League prospect.

Rumour probability: 5/10

Lukaku will remain at Old Trafford for at least one more season. Juventus will definitely target Lukaku in the next summer, but Manchester United will also be looking to not give away their quality players, which they have been guilty of on previous occasions. Though it will take some doing to land him at ‘the Old Lady.’

Fox Sports is a reliable source, and we have to wait to see how this story unfolds.

What’s next?

For now, this should be seen as a developing story. However, considering the Belgian striker’s impressive skills, Juventus will be really eager to sign him. It remains to be seen how United react to this development.
