The ICC World Cup 2019 is less than a week away, and the Cricketing world just can’t keep calm. From fans to pundits, the excitement and anticipation have been overwhelming. With the official tournament to kickstart on 30th May, all the teams are sweating it out in the warm-up games to get into the action. Bangladesh will play their first practice match against the Pakistan team at the Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.
Pakistan has been struggling to find their feet in the limited-overs cricket over the last few years. After the 5-0 whitewash against Australia, Pakistan was hammered in their previous series against England to make things worse. Sarfraz Ahmed will be under scrutiny if they don’t end up beating Bangladesh in their last warm-up match before the official tournament begins. Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq have been consistently performing well for the Green Army while their bowling department needs to step-up in the times of adversity. Pakistan would be hoping for a comprehensive performance against Bangladesh and end their losing streak.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh can be the dark horses in this edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Masrafe Mortaza has a bunch of exciting players who can outplay any team on their day. Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Mustafizur Rahman, and Mosaddek Hossain will have the responsibility to score plenty of runs top of the order while World No.1 ODI All-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan’s performance will be pivotal to Bangladesh’s success in this World Cup. Though Rubel Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman will spearhead the pace attack, Bangladesh lacks variations and effective spin wicket-taking options in the middle overs.
